Casey & Lonnie WYOMING WEDDINGS FEATURE Written by Kati Hime; Photography by Blushing Crow Studio I love to find a common word when it comes to couples. For Casey and Lonnie, the common word that runs through their story is passion. A couple that met through a mutual passion – triathlon racing – these two continue to pursue their interests together. When it came time to propose, Lonnie found the perfect venue – Ireland. “[Ireland] had been on the top of our respective ‘destination lists’ for a long time,” Casey said. “We both have strong Irish heritage, so we decided to go together. It was an incredible vacation.” While they had selected rings previously, the actual proposal itself was a surprise for Casey. “On the second or third day, we went for an evening stroll along a bay. The sunset before us on the water was beautiful, and the Irish hillside with stone fences was idyllic. We were both so happy, so relaxed, so in love. While standing by the water, Lonnie asked me to marry him. I said, ‘Of course!’ What I didn’t know was that he had been carry25 ing that ring in his chest pocket since we left Lander and I had reached into that same pocket to grab a pen countless times, giving him a mini heart attack each time. He tells me he had decided if I found it, that would be the perfect moment to propose (ha ha), but I was oblivious.” Lonnie and Casey gave themselves a year and a half to plan their wedding, which gave them plenty of time to research their possibilities. “We knew we wanted an intimate, outdoor ceremony and a big blow-out party for the reception,” Casey said. “Lonnie and I spent one Sunday driving around the Lander area to find the perfect location for the ceremony and found this spot atop Red Canyon on public land.” The spot included a natural ‘altar’ step for the wedding party, an open space for their family & friends to observe, and “…ridiculous rocks for photos, which we oh-so-cleverly dubbed Pride Rock.”
