“Well,” Pat interjected, “It was muddy and I was really tired, so it wasn’t quite a drop …” “That’s true,” she replied. “OK, he almost dropped to his knee and proposed.” Then she added, “It was perfect…” The two received lots of advice on wedding plan- ning, ideas and what to avoid from their friends who had been married in recent years. They also relied a lot on the expertise of Brian Harrington of BHP Imaging, their photographer. “We didn’t know anything!” Pat exclaimed with a laugh. “Brian was so patient. We’re really laid back, and he is too; but then sometimes he helped us realize that we needed to not be quite that laid back when it came to planning things. He helped us figure a lot of stuff out.” Their outdoor wedding, held on August 26, 2017 in the Snowy Range, was filled with family, friends and the mountains that were so familiar to them as a couple. The décor featured the sheds they had collected on their trips, including an arch handmade by Pat. “Amanda had no faith in me whatsoever to build that thing,” Pat laughs. “It just looked so wobbly – I was wondering if it was going to stand up …” Amanda added, laughing. “Yeah, but it did – and then I gave it my step- sister to use in her wedding, and today it’s still in her backyard … standing there very solidly, thank you!” Pat finished, the two dissolving into laughter together. The two were married under the arch at Snowy Range Lodge, to which the party shifted after spending time getting ready at Centennial’s Mountain View Hotel. Amanda’s brother officiated their ceremony, and they appreciated the family and friends who joined them on their special day. The kids also appreciated the addition of an army’s worth of Nerf guns brought by Amanda’s family, plus some Ring Pops that turned lots of little mouths bright colors. “We had all sorts of colors in our family pictures,” Amanda laughs. “And we loved it.” Pat and Amanda live in Casper now, where Pat is an attorney with Chapman Valdez & Lansing, and Amanda is the Director of the Casper chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters. I have no doubt that with these two, the laughter, stories and outdoor adventures will continue for years to come. n www.wyoweddings.com 17
