Bringing their families to Lander ( hers from Michigan and his from Wisconsin ) was no small task , but their guests not only flocked to the event , they dove in and helped . Sara ’ s mother and best friend took on the job of flowers and decorating for the event , utilizing Wyoming florists and a local Lander farmer and friend of Sara ’ s . “ Everyone was so helpful , from shoveling cow pies away from the ceremony site , to setting up the arch and chairs , and especially all of the linen ironing and folding required to set up the reception … our guests were generous with volunteering to help ,” Sara explains . “ It was an all-around unifying experience !”
The two were married at an outdoor ceremony at Fry Lake in the Wind River Mountains , then headed in to town for their reception at the Lander Community Center ’ s beautiful patio and garden . Joining their lives was a beautiful moment Sara will always treasure . “ My favorite part of our day was standing in front of the pastor under the archway , slipping the ring on Randy ’ s finger , and our first kiss as husband and wife !” she says . “ I was anxious all day to spend time with him , and it was such a joy to be in my groom ’ s company from that moment forward .” Moments to take photos alone with their photographer after the ceremony were tranquil , and the couple will always remember their wedding party and families ’ toasts and their first dance as well . “ How could I pick just one favorite moment ?!” Sara laughs .
Randy and Sara enjoyed their experience with Virginia Ruth Photography of Riverton . “ Ginny was a joy to work with !” Sara says . “ Her photography and the personal flare she adds to her work made the memories of our day especially magical . Ginny works with passion ; the light you see in her pictures not only comes from the sun in the sky , but also the passion in her heart . The day of our wedding she struck a perfect balance between being timely and easygoing , and being directive and behind-the-scenes .”
Today , the couple resides in Green Bay , Wisconsin , where Randy is a firefighter and paramedic for the city and Sara is enjoying a part-time job . The two plan to explore the John Muir trail and look to start a family when the time is right . n
