The wedding cake topper Alex and Greg used was an antler, which they both loved and which suited their personalities and style, regardless of what anyone thought or said. “My husband and I both loved it, and it was so us,” Alex adds. One note that Alex is sure to stress for future brides – be prepared for the unexpected, and be ready to roll with the punches. “Our DJ completely failed to show up with no call or notice,” Alex says. “That was our one major problem with the wedding.” Her family and friends came to the rescue. “That’s the awesome thing about living in Wyoming – we’re all very close-knit and often live in tiny towns, so we had a group of wedding guests get together and call a friend of theirs who is a DJ. They showed up in 20 minutes and did a wonderful job at the wedding. We are so thankful for them and all of the great people who got them to the wedding for us!” 34 She adds a word of advice: “So brides – something bad will happen (hopefully not as bad as what happened to us!) and I can just advise that you tell yourself that every day leading up to the wedding so that you’re prepared and calm.” After the wedding, Alex and Greg took off for a giant Alaskan honeymoon, something they both savored and found crucial to the wedding experience. “I know many people who cut the honeymoon out of their budget first, but my husband and I both agree, cut everything else – (except the photographer, that’s the most important part!) – before you cut the honeymoon,” Alex insists. “That time is so special.”
