bytes Don’t Miss Day at the Legislature & Taste of West Virginia Reception Once again, it’s time for the West Virginia Farm Bureau/West Virginia Forestry Association Day at the Legislature and Taste of West Virginia Reception. Both events take place on Tuesday, February 9th. The Day at the Legislature starts at 10 am at the West Virginia State Capitol, and gives members the opportunity to meet with their representatives to discuss areas of special concern. A number of vendors set up displays in the Upper Rotunda, to distribute information and interact with attendees. At 1 pm, all Farm Bureau members meet at the WVFB display for a group photo to commemorate the day. Please note that new security measures have been implemented at the capitol. Entries to the building during the legislative session are limited to the West and East Wing entrances. Upon entry, visitors will be asked to empty their pockets and will be screened with metal detectors. Security officials advises visitors not to bring anything to the capitol they wouldn’t bring to an airport. The Taste of West Virginia Reception will be held that evening at 6 pm at the Charleston Marriott. The reception will feature the finest foods West Virginia producers have to offer. The reception is always a huge hit with legislators and offers another opportunity for WVFB and WVFA members to chat with them about important issues. An opportunity for FB county photos will be offered at 7:30 pm. We hope to see you there! Food Check-Out Scheduled for April West Virginia Farm Bureau’s Food Check-Out is observed each year to mark appreciation for America’s affordable, abundant, safe food supply. As part of the annual celebration, Farm Bureau volunteers collect money, nonperishable foods and other items to stock the pantries of the state’s three Ronald McDonald Houses in Huntington, Charleston and Morgantown, helping families who stay there during the hospitalization of a sick child. This year, shopping events will take place on April 21 in Huntington, April 22 in Charleston and April 23 in Morgantown. More details to follow.
