15 writings to our mother The Trees of the Forest by John Bacher The trees of the forest Will shout with joy When the stupid scheme Is No More The frogs will sing In their vernal pools When the wreckers are gone And no longer rule The giant oaks Will dance with delight When the Paradise plans Go down with a fight The Blue Spotted Salamander Will jump out of the mud They will have So much fun The Buttonbush and the Radiant Wood Duck Will say to the schemers Your out of luck! Go away they say We don’t need you Stay out of our cool Vernal pools Get away and go To a soybean field Or a brownfield site Within the urban boundaries.
