Cont’d At the next end page… of October I headed down to Los Angeles to give workshops at the “Memories Are Made of This” Genre LA Conference presented by West Coast Writers Conferences. I gave two well attended workshops - Lots of very good comments afterwards. I’ve been invited to be one of the instructors for the Henderson Library District’s Writers Retreat at Lake Las Vegas NV on February 28, 2016, and will be giving a 3 hour workshop on memoirs. I’ve had lots of experience with several types of memoirs, written for other people and myself. They encompass a traditional memoir such as La Bella Mafia and Can We Come and Laugh, Too?, memoir as fiction retaining about 90% reality—Confessions of a Cougar, and from 25%-50% reality like Ripoff and Bumping Off Fat Vinny, and Betrayed, pure fiction inspired by reality. See, there are so many ways to use those experiences that have been living in your head. I’m currently working on the fascinating true story mentioned in Morgan’s Corner in the last issue, so check out the Life Story feature this month for a peek at what part of it is about.
