A NATOMY O F A B OOK T RAILER (C ONT ’ D )
And one other thing to consider. If you make it the series book trailer, then
you don’t have to make new ones for each book. It’s just handy that my series is
the same name as the first book in the series.
Now I know not everyone can afford to have fresh footage shot, but you
might be able to get some. And with a skilled videographer, you can get quite a
bit done with stock footage combined with stills and a voice over. A video with
stock footage, stock music, interspersed with stock photos, and with a voiceover
actor should run you around $1200 to $1700, depending on the voiceover actor.
Don’t skimp on this. This is another face of your book. If everything looks
professional and flashy, it makes it that much more appealing to pick up your
book in the bookstore. Take a look at the results:

After watching the book trailer, not only do people say they gotta read that
book, but a lot of people say that they want to see that TV show! Wouldn’t that
be keen? And it’s that sort of comment that I’m really looking for in a book
trailer.
Jeri Westerson would love your further attention directed to her website,
where there is an excerpt from the book, her Pinterest page, her Facebook and
Twitter links, a 30 second version of the book trailer, and more about her and
her books, at BOOKEoftheHIDDEN.com
