WRITERS ABROAD MAGAZINE Another Pebble A Poem by Rilla Norsland Found a sparkling stone on a lonely path, warmed it in my hand, slipped it in my mouth rolled it on my tongue—brooded on its feel, thought about our earth—all that is concealed, dark water, solid rock, dense unyielding mass sand and stone, bright minerals, live soil and weightless gas, fiery churning core—tempers sand to glass, endless time, vast pressure—crystal sprinkled heart. Perhaps our grinding days—burdens, soundless pain can bring to us a gleam —pebbles in the rain. WA Dhaka 2015 17 | M a r c h 2 0 1 5
