Stateside Model #7 (evening program) This stateside celebration is an evening program that allows stateside pilgrims to watch video footage from that day’s events at WYD in Panamá, and brings them together for fellowship, prayer, and catechesis. This can be held any night of the WYD week. 6:00 pm Welcome & Registration • o Refreshments and socialization 6:30 pm Solidarity (with the poor, refugees, immigrants, marginalized, etc.) Pilgrim Catechesis 7:30 pm o This catechesis can be led by a pastoral WYD Panamá Video o Show a moment from WYD Panamá, or a leader (bishop, priest, deacon, religious, compilation of several WYD events lay leader); it can also be a witness from o Pre-recorded video on large screen in WYD alumni or young people. indoor hall or gathering space o If the number of participants is high, o If the video includes footage of a liturgical consider having multiple catechetical event such as a Mass, emphasize a spirit of sessions (and have the participants choose reverence and respect the session that speaks to them) o Possible catechetical sessions can include: • • 8:30 pm WYD 2019 theme (“I am the servant o Have a prayer service by candlelight, of the Lord. Saturday evening of the WYD events in Pilgrimage, Encounter, and Panamá o If time and space allow, consider Celebration • Candlelight Vigil Prayer beginning with a pilgrimage walk Young people and their role in the Church and the world • • The Life and Legacy of Saint John 9:30 pm Paul II o If time allows, late evening options can also include: rosary, coffeehouse, music, The Cross (connecting to the WYD praise and worship, Adoration of the Cross and the Via Crucis) • Closing and Dismissal Blessed Sacrament, or watching more Vocation (what does it mean to video feed from Panamá, or socializing respond to God’s call?) o Close by 11:00 p.m. with night prayer 48
