For Lianne Chew, living and working in New York City as
a vice president for Pearl Meyer & Partners meant her
most strenuous activity was often chasing after cabs.
When she was invited to participate as one of five athletes on the Pearl
Meyer team at the Adventure Team Challenge Colorado, she was a little
nervous. Feeling unprepared as potentially the weakest link on a team
that included two persons with disabilities, she nearly allowed fear to
keep her from traveling to Colorado’s high Gore Range in mid-September.
At remote Rancho del Rio, Lianne found her fears subside thanks to
her team. Every participant had his or her own skills and strengths
that helped all members complete each stage. Reaching beyond their
comfort zones and solving challenges helped Lianne renew her love of
the outdoors. She realized that there are no limitations to what can be
accomplished through teamwork.
Today, Lianne is an active, fit person who works out regularly. At
Christmas, Lianne received a hand-made holiday ornament from a friend
with the Adventure Team Challenge logo. It was her favorite present and
will remind her each year of the inspiration that comes with adventure.
