At the time of the 2017 Winter Universiade , the FISU headquarters was located in the Rahat Palace Hotel , where hundreds of people , both guests and organizers , were gathering on a daily basis . At the end of the Universiade , the FISU President , Mr . Oleg Matytsin , expressed his special gratitude for the hospitality of Rahat Palace , the only hotel that was awarded by the FISU . The Managing Director of the Hotel , Mr . Serdar Seyyar , explained how Kazakhstan ’ s first five-star hotel hosted the Universiade guests .
Please , tell us why Rahat Palace was chosen as the FISU headquarters ?
Let ’ s start with the fact that preparations for such a major event as the Universiade began two years ago . At that time , the first representatives of the FISU came to Almaty . They stayed at the Rahat Palace and other hotels in the city , assessing the conditions , location and level of service . After that , they provided us with a rider , which is a list of the requirements necessary for the hotel in order to meet the Universiade guests ’ needs . Therefore , the decision that the FISU representatives will stay at the Rahat Palace was made long before the start of the competition , which was then preceded by two months of preparations and negotiations .
