Miss Daisy’s Apples
Harrison Weber
“my pleasure was not in those fruits, it was in the offense itself, which the company of fellow-sinners occasioned.”
Second Book
we went skateboarding
trying to learn
on wheeled planks
of
splitting wood
peeling paint
and rusted axels
we got hungry
we stole apples
a woman began to yell
her name was Miss Daisy
or maybe Petunia — maybe even Virginia
truth is, I never learned it
what’re you doin’? Thos’re my apples!
we took off
scuffed shoes pushing against pavement
