SAINT MARTIN’S saints Record: 3-13-2 overall, 3-10-1 conference Pre-season Coaches Poll: T-5th Conference Finish: T-6th (10 points) Stat Leaders: Goals – Sasha Dini (5); Assists – Hanna Massee (3); Saves – Sunny De Boer (95) All-Conference Selections: First – none; Second – Taylor Gersch; HM – Sasha Dini, Abby McFaul Season Recap: The Saints didn’t have a very good start to the soccer season. They lost eight of their first 10 matches while tying the other two. They got their first win against SFU, scoring half of the goals they had up to that point in the season in one game. Abby McFaul had memorable match as she scored the first goal and recorded the winning assist. Saint Martin’s finished by winning 2 of its last three matches, including nocking Western Oregon out of the GNAC playoffs with a 2-0 victory in its season finale. Sasha Dini ranked seventh in the conference in goals. SMU did finish second in the conference in saves and, even though she only played in eight matches, the Saints Kelli Bannerman was third in the conference in goals per game. Eight of the Saints 14 matches were decided by one goal and three of their wins were won by three different scorers. SIMON FRASER clan Record: 2-16-0 overall, 2-12-0 conference Pre-season Coaches Poll: 8th Conference Finish: 8th (6 points) Stat Leaders: Goals – Olivia Aguiar (3); Assists – Devon Kollmyer (3); Saves – Priya Sandhu (76) All-Conference Selections: First – none; Second – none; HM – Olivia Aguiar, Teagan Rae Sorokan Season Recap: The high point of the Clan’s 2014 soccer season came in week four of conference play. Simon Fraser won two home games in a row, putting itself in fourth place in the GNAC standings. The first win came against Western Oregon which ended up finishing just outside the top four in the GNAC. At the time, the Clan’s one goal was against Amanda Rose Johnson who ranked 16th in the country in save percentage. These two wins matched the number of conference victories Simon Fraser has had since 2011 and were the first home wins the Clan has had in nine matches. Besides these victories, however, the Clan’s season was bookended by losing streaks. Starting 0-6 and finishing 0-10, the Clan lost 16 matches for the second time in three years. The Clan finished with their best conference record since the 2010 season. Simon Fraser did have the most wins since 2010 when it won eight matches. With all but three players returning the Clan will look to build upon this performance next season.
