The Falcons were ousted in the first round of the NCAA tournament by a golden goal score in doubleovertime against Cal State Stanislaus. Even though SPU didn’t quite reach the plateau it did in 2013, it still continued its streak of 12 straight NCAA postseason appearances. SPU was one of the harder teams to beat at home this season, scoring 23 of its conference high 36 goals at Interbay Stadium. GNAC Player of the Year and championships MVP Isabel Farrell was part of a duo of Falcons that led the conference in points. Farrell scored seven goals while passing for seven assists while teammate Hannah Huesers led the GNAC with 15 goals, more than double anyone else in the conference. Once conference play started though, Central Washington got into a groove. Only losing two of their first seven matches, the Wildcats quickly rose to one of the top teams in the conference. CWU was the only team in the GNAC to tie regular season champion Western Washington and beat conference tournament champion Seattle Pacific. Hadli Farrand led CWU to the GNAC championship tournament for the second straight year. The Wildcats had one of the tougher defenses in the conference ranking third in goals-against average and second in shutouts. A big reason for this was goalkeeper Kayla Lipston. The senior honorable-mention team member made 97 saves while producing the most shutouts per game in the GNAC. Freshman of the Year Mackenzie Nolte and GNAC first-teamer Hadli Farrand set the pace for the Wildcats in goals. The two scored 13 of the teams 22 goals in 2014, including six of its last 10.
