Evita Peron is known for her ability to advocate on behalf of women to grant them equal rights, thus incorporating them into mainstream society. It is wokrth mentionang though, that she is of course not the only one to answer to the needs of the marginalized. Dating back to as early as 1900, women have been taking a stand for fair and equal treatment. An examploe of this could be seen in the Union for Faminine Progress and Child Protection, formed in 1902. Later in 1907, the Pro Feminine Suffrage Center was created and just a few years after that, Julieta Lanteri became the first woman registered to vote in Latin America following a long, bitter trial. Unfortunately, these adancements were negated due to a military coup that occured in 1930.
