"The Infamous Decade"

In order to understand Argentina during the time of the 1940's, you must first examine the period that preceded it - "The Infamous Decade." THis period is known for its political turmoil, electoral fraud and government corruption This was all happenng during a severe, worldwide ecenomic depression.

Large Cities, such as Buenoas Aires experienced a population surge, as many farmworkers and general laborers migrated to the outskirts of larger towns in search of work. This population plays a major role in the following decade as they are believed to comprise the social base of Peronism.
