Yet, this is the time for the Black community as a group to do some reflection and introspection. What are we doing to fight for our rights among ourselves? Where are the “This Ends Now” shirts? Can we form circles and prayer chains around schools, playgrounds, and train stations? It is time to say, “Love yourself, Love your community” so that we can bond together to stop the violence within our own community. Although violence has decreased in our community throughout the past 30 years, we can still make a lot more progress. Please understand that this in no way negates the strides that we have made to reduce the numbers, or the amount of violence that occurs in other communities.
