american artist Cherie Giampietro Ceramics Since my first turn at the potter’s wheel in 1994, I have wholeheartedly pursued my passion for creating original, distinctive ceramics. I am self-taught, aside from an introductory clay class just after college. My ceramics explore rich surface patterns and textures that encourage touch and incorporate glazes that enhance clay’s natural characteristics. My ceramics are made of stoneware, and are wheel thrown and or hand built. I personally mix each earth toned glaze from favorite recipes collected over the years. Pieces are twice fired in my electric kiln– vitrifying glaze and clay–creating durable and long lasting ceramics for the home and garden. My small home studio is located in lovely Western Maine, where I live with my two children and husband, poet Frank W. Giampietro. wom en ART page 13
