M exican-A m e rican artist Ar Josie Del Castillo co ntempo rary Plant Therapy Oils on Wood 21” x 21” Using plants that are native to South Texas, I decided to incorporate them as if they were growing out of my head to represent them as a “healing crown.” Plants are known for healing - both mentally and physically. Therefore, having them on my head, they symbolically help me cope with my mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety. Self Care Oils on Wood 11” x 18” We mainly use face masks to cleanse our pores, to relax and to feel and look good. The same way we take care of our faces is the same we should take care of our mental health and well-being. I use the face mask as a symbol to take of our souls and our minds. We are sometimes so busy living life that sometimes we don’t give ourselves alone time to rest and recover. Our minds are very powerful; we should take care of it. ART pag e 20
