Po rtugue s e artist Belinha Silva mixed m edia ABOUT THE ARTIST: In 2004, a health problem changed the course of my life and finally helped me dedicate time to Art even though my background was in finance and accounting. I like to use varied materials, textures, and colors. Beginning last year, I focused on what I love more about art (the mixture of materials, textures, colors, the profusion of details, allegorical subjects and imaginary etc.), as well as various painting techniques. In my eagerness to create out-of-the-ordinary works using my techniques, it came to mind to use the fragments of a white porcelain vase. To create them, I first draw the outlines of the subject and baked them at 750º. Then, I painted these fragments with various pigments, inlays, gold, or other mediums and bake them again, at a temperature ranging from 750º to 850º depending on the desired result. Finally, I repaint and fire them, as many times as necessary, in order to arrive at the final result. My mixed technique consists of painting the canvas in acrylic. Then, I create the table using painted porcelain fragments, as explained previously. Finally, I fix them on the canvas in order to get a work unlike any other. This innovative mixture of art techniques, using canvas and porcelain fragments, offers to me the opportunity to develop my creativity - creating inimitable and contemporary artworks.
