Perseverance, Positive Outlook &
Hard Work Wins Every Time!
I have a great life. I’m blessed with three lovely grown daughters, a caring
husband and a career I love. But on a June day in 1987, my world came
crashing to a halt – quite literally.
I was 20 years old and looking forward to a career as an airline pilot when I was in an accident
and suffered multiple injuries. I broke both legs, both arms, my back and suffered other injuries.
I believe that struggles in life happen for a reason. If I hadn’t been in that accident, I may not
have my beautiful girls or chosen real estate as a career path. I sincerely love being
a REALTOR.
When I walk a client through their potential home, I feel an empathy with them – a sense of
how well the house suits them and whether or not it ‘belongs’ to them. I connect with my
clients on a personal level. You need to be present in the moment. If I’m with a client, they
get my full attention. I walk through a home with my clients the entire time – I’m not on my
phone. I’m not just that Agent that’s looking for a paycheque. I believe that if you put your
client’s needs ahead of your bank account, then your business will grow.
For many years now my business has been at least 70% repeat and referral – the other 30%
is new business from advertising. That tells me that my clients appreciate the help I’ve given
them. I derive great satisfaction from knowing that I gave them my best and they recognize and
appreciate it.
I’ve had a few mentors over the years that have helped me in my life and career. My dad and
grandparents taught me the value of hard work. My mom, who is ill with epilepsy and MS,
taught me a positive outlook. She gets joy out of life when most people would give up.
A family friend, Penny, mentored me in Real Estate from a young age. I grew up with her kids,
and when I needed a career change due to my accident, she was there for me. Her kind spirit
taught me that I need to do the same for others in the industry.
Barbara Corcoran is a ‘de facto’ mentor to me. I love her book “If you don’t have big breasts, put
ribbons on your pigtails.” It’s a great read, and if there is one take-away I get from her book, it’s
this quote: “Great salespeople have an attitude of ‘I’ll either succeed, or I’ll die trying!’ You can’t
fake passion.”
I’m passionate about my clients and their success – that shows in the way I commit my time
and energy to help them. I’m more than a real estate agent. I’m a REALTOR®.
