Parenting Expert, Speaker Nola Peacock Do You Feel Invisible? Do you ever feel invisible or like you just don’t fit in? For most of my life, I did. I found the world harsh. I was told I was too sensitive. There were many times I wished I wasn’t here. I even made plans to end my life. I took antidepressants and went for therapy, yet the loneliness, sadness and the longing for life to be easier remained. It wasn’t until I took a program that helped me tap into my spirituality and learn to listen to my own inner guidance and wisdom that things changed. Since tapping into my intuition or inner wisdom, I’ve come to realize how critical it is for me to nurture my spirit by doing things I love to do. I now use joy as my compass when making decisions on what I want to do. Sometimes it is a simple thing like enjoying my morning coffee on my deck, so that I can enjoy the sunshine and beautiful flowers in my yard. Other times, it’s taking time to meditate and visualize the things I desire. Spending time with family and friends or doing something creative also nurtures my heart. Nurturing my spirit has now become a daily ritual. Having a daily ritual is something I encourage my clients to do regardless of whether they are six years old or fifty-six. An important thing to note is that there is not one way to nurture yourself. Tapping into your heart will give you the answers that are best for you. If it has been a while since you’ve tapped in, simply take a few moments to sit quietly. Close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths. Put your hand over your heart and ask your heart what it needs. Then listen. Your answer may come in different ways. It may be your own thoughts. You may get a picture in your mind or you may just get a sense of what you are meant to do for yourself. Be patient. Be gentle. If you don’t get an answer right away, keep asking. It may take a few times before you get an answer. Tapping into our intuition is like building a muscle. It gets stronger with use. So make a commitment to yourself to check in on a daily basis with your heart. Find out what it needs today and then do it. Nourish your spirit. Fill yourself up. Do something that brings you joy each and every day. And if you have kids, teach them to do the same.
