The Joys of Business Expansion
Positive change has become a constant for Ida Colby and Jennifer Steckly , partners of Colby • Steckly Chartered Accountants , now in their fifth year of business . Not only have they experienced staff changes in the past year , they have also moved their headquarters to a larger office space – and they did it right in the busiest part of tax season !
Much to the partners ’ delight , the move was relatively seamless . Says Jennifer , “ We couldn ’ t stop working to focus on the move . It was all about organization and teamwork . We packed and moved over one weekend and by noon on April 17 , we were open again for business .” The timing of the move meant that many of their clients coming in to sign tax returns got to view the new office digs and have a hand in the celebration .
Now poised for further expansion , the partners at Colby • Steckly have set three specific goals for 2017 : teamwork , innovation , and growth .
Teamwork In the typical paradigm of accounting firms , each employee works only on his / her client files with little support , despite the pressures of workloads and deadlines . “ We actively look for ways to help each other . All suggestions are considered so that work is easier for everyone .” Not only has this improved work flow and turnaround times , clients can depend on consistent service , even if their accountant is away .
