Easter Seals Alberta Balance is the Key to a Good Life Working for a charity can be a very rewarding experience. When you wake up in the morning, you know in your heart that you have the opportunity to help others in need. I have had the honour to work for an amazing organization called Easter Seals Alberta. Having a great environment to work in is fantastic, but I believe that the key to a good life is proper balance between work and home. Having awesome friends one can depend on, and a strong family behind you is what life is all about. Instilling strong spirituality within oneself is also key to a balanced life. I have been exposed, on a personal level, to very strong spiritual leaders who have impacted me in ways that words cannot describe. Volunteering for different causes makes life interesting and worthwhile. Sometimes work and personal lives become intertwined, but that’s all right too. We are all connected in some way. In the life of social media, people need human interaction too. That’s when life is at its best. Meeting people face-to- face and feeling their emotions is heart-warming and wonderful. In my off hours, you will find me in Zumba classes in different parts of the city. Zumba is a ‘feel-good’ activity and one that makes me smile, have fun and improve my coordination. The music is awesome and stays with me even after the class is finished. I highly recommend this activity for all ages and fitness levels. A rewarding job, great friends and family, volunteering, strong spirituality, and fun exercise – this is how I balance my life. Easter Seals Alberta Director, Operations JODI ZABLUDOWSKI Easter Seals Alberta Ph: 780.429.0137, Ext 307 [email protected] www.easterseals.ab.ca Easter Seals Alberta has been in our province since 1951. What a wonderful organization to be involved with as we help children, adults and seniors with disabilities and medical conditions improve their quality of life. We provide services that foster inclusion, independence and recreation for individuals with disabilities and medical conditions. Whether we are helping people obtain mobility equipment, assisting the nine residents at Easter Seals McQueen Residence, or sending 1,200 children to Easter Seals Camp Horizon, every day is rewarding. At Camp, children and young adults from all across the province get to have week-long camp experiences. Giving someone a mode of transportation, like a power wheelchair or scooter, makes a world of difference to a person needing to go shopping or to appointments. These are all life-changing experiences for the people we help. This organization would not be viable without the help of supporters and donors, and people just like you. We depend on the generous spirit of the community to help us out. This includes participation at our events like the Kevin Karius Easter Seals Celebrity Golf Classic, Woman2Warrior event, or rappelling down a building at an event called The Drop Zone. We still send out direct mail with our ‘seals’ and after all these years, we still receive the support through the mail (and on-line) from generous donors. Corporations and businesses get involved by selling “Paper Eggs” and money is raised $2.00 at a time. It all adds up. Each contribution, no matter what the amount, makes a difference. From our heart to yours, we are grateful for the support of people in communities all across the province. You have helped us accomplish our vision: inspiring potential, building community and enriching lives.
