Tessa Labbe Wedding Planner Wedding Planning with Empowerment I was asked what I believed would be the largest barrier for female leaders behind myself. I believe with the amount of powerful women leaders in the world today, truly the only thing that would be holding anyone back would be the lack of belief in themselves. We as women are amazing and can and HAVE made many positive amazing changes in our world or just in our lives. With hard work, belief in one’s self and surrounding yourself with like-minded, driven women, there is nothing holding you back. The worst decision I ever made was giving up on myself. I’ve started many self- owned careers yet gave up before launching in with both feet and a whole heart. If I had believed in myself and put in the work, I would have been further ahead in life. The best decision I’ve ever made was starting my family in my early 20’s. At 34 years old, I am in a position to raise my family while working from home. I am at a higher maturity level to grow and work my business as it needs, while taking the time off to be with my family and enjoy our life. Being a wedding planner comes with challenges. First, the market is saturated with wedding planners so I MUST make my business stand out. Second, Pinterest. Oh, how we all love Pinterest. It is a great resource – but it can give false illusions on how a wedding can look for a low price. Third, Pricing. Everyone wants a deal. Hiring a planner based on low price will leave you disappointed. We wedding planners, through WPIC, have pricing standards to keep our industry true and respected. I am always growing through education – online courses based on social media marketing, pricing strategies, social gatherings and more. I know who my ideal client is and by focusing on them, I grow my business daily with a smile on my face and love in my heart. I ask questions through wedding industry groups on social media. I surround myself with talented, driven, like-minded individuals. To keep myself empowered, I read Crystal Andrus Morissette books. This women amazes me. She had a lifetime of hurt and struggles but never gave up. She figured out what she wanted and worked her ass off to get it. She is full of life, love and empowerment. That’s the path I have chosen to be on – I am blessed.
