Saying Yes to Your Dreams
Have you ever woken up and thought, ‘There has to be more to life than this’?
That was me a few years ago. I had a great life – an executive level position, a husband
who is also my best friend, two wonderful kids, and our dream home. From the
outside, life looked pretty good. Yet I found myself feeling like I wasn’t living on
purpose anymore. The moment I really woke up to that feeling, a life-change seemed
impossible. Jeff, my husband, is a stay-at-home dad. I had two kids under the age of
four and I was pregnant with our third child. So every day I got up and went to work,
and every day I felt a little more miserable, until one day I said enough! It’s time to
make a change. Did I ever! The next day I began the process of ending a 16-year career.
There’s a wonderful passage by William H. Murray that says “Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the
chance to pull back and always ineffectiveness … but the moment one definitely commits oneself, then
providence moves too.”
And that was my experience. The moment I
made that decision all sorts of things started
to open up. I hired a coach to support me in
discovering what was next for me. Shortly
after, I took intensive training as a life coach
and after a career of mentoring entrepreneurs,
I launched my own business supporting
people in discovering their purpose and
stepping into their greatness. This all occurred
because I was willing to make a decision for
myself and my dreams, despite the fear of
the unknown and a multitude of very logical
reasons not to make that change.
