cool these guys are!! John Gourley, Zach
Carothers, Kyle O'Quin, and Jason
Sechrist are the current members, and
formed in 2005. So far, they have
released a staggering eight albums, as
well as three EPs. Even cooler is that
they are from Alaska, USA. Enough said!
Though they may not be as ‘hard core’ as
some other male bands, they produce
awesome, psychedelic music that is
definitely worth listening to!
MINIATURE TIGERS
Alt-J: is also known as ∆, which is a little
harder to pronounce, so let’s just stick
with Alt-J. Joe Newman (guitarist/lead
vocalist),
Gwil
Sainsbury
(former
guitarist, former bassist,), Gus UngerHamilton (keyboard, vocalist), and Thom
Green (drummer) formed in 2007 when
they met at Leeds University in England.
Since then, they have released two studio
albums, and the 2012 album, An
Awesome Wave won the boys the British
Mercury Award. Nice!
SWIM DEEP
PORTUGAL. THE MAN
Miniature Tigers: The indie rock band
from Phoenix, Arizona, is composed of
members; Charlie Brand (lead guitarist),
Rick Schaier (keyboard, vocalist), Algernon
Quashie (guitarist), and Brandon Lee
(bassist). They formed in 2006, and first
toured in 2008. They have 6 albums/EPs
released so far, and they have a new
album called Cruel Runnings set to be
released soon this year! Give them a
listen, and make sure to check out my
personal favourite, Cannibal Queen!
ALT-J
Swim Deep: seems to have that 80’s and
90’s Hanson brother appeal. But they
can actually do things. Austin Williams
(vocalist),
Tom
Higgins
(guitarist),
Zachary Robinson (drummer), Cavan
McCarthy (bassist) and James Balmont
(keys) formed in 2011, and originated
from Birmingham, England (again, these
British boys!) Their debut album, Where
the Heaven Are We was released on the
5th of August, 2013, and has a fresh,
summery chill feel. Love it ○●
