It ’ s been eight years since Pediatric and Adolescent Urgent Care of Western New York ( Peds Urgent Care ) opened its doors as the region ’ s first pediatric-only urgent care . Since then , WNY families and pediatricians have embraced the facility ’ s model of care : family-friendly urgent care , available when most pediatricians ’ offices are closed . “ We are excited to be able to provide our model to an area that does not have another option for this level of specialized pediatric care ,” says Dr . Kathleen Grisanti , Medical Director .
Staffed by experts in Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine , the facility offers services that are usually only available at a pediatric hospital . We also have pediatric trained nurse practitioners to work side by side with our physicians on weeknights and weekends . Unlike general urgent care centers , Peds Urgent Care works closely with pediatricians to compliment the services they provide . The facility provides a wide range of pediatric services including on-site X-ray , laboratory , basic surgical procedures ( splinting , foreign body removal , suturing etc .) and a variety of general medical procedures ( IVs , blood draws , infusions ). A moderately complex CLIA approved lab enables many lab tests to be done on-site . Some providers can perform conscious sedation on children , which can allow some procedures to be done that previously required a trip to an operating room .
The facility offers a warm , friendly environment specifically designed with kids and their families in mind . From their first step into the waiting room , the facility exceeds expectations for comfort , service , and medical care . As their children quickly become comfortable in the environment , parents relax with the assurance that the most qualified pediatric physicians and nurses are caring for their child .
