Gretzky’s winning shot in vir-
tual reality or have your photo
taken with hockey’s biggest
prize — the Stanley Cup.
We arrived at the Afri-
can Savanna just in time for a
cheetah feeding. The zookeeper
offered insight into the life of
these incredibly fast animals.
This area is also home to rhinos,
hippos, giraffes, lions and more.
The Gorilla Rainforest,
home to the western lowland
gorilla troop, and the Tundra
Trek, where polar bears re-
side, are two especially popular
areas.
The Royal Ontario Museum, other-
wise known as the ROM, is Canada’s larg-
est museum of natural history and world
cultures. Easy to reach by subway, it is the
place to be for all dinosaur fans. Everyone
seems to gravitate to the Galleries of the
Age of Dinosaurs. The museum has one
of the world’s most comprehensive collec-
tions of dinosaur skulls. display in the world. Visitors are invited
to take a photo of the kids in front of the
dinosaur and post it to the museum’s site.
Gordo, at 88 feet long, is the center-
piece of the exhibit. It is the largest real
fossil dinosaur mounted in Canada and
one of only three Barosaurus skeletons on Over at the CIBC Discovery Gallery,
kids can try on costumes, dig for dinosaur
bones, and examine fossils and meteorites.
Preschoolers have their own special area.
Families are especially welcome in
the Family Gallery of Biodiversity. There
are many touchable specimens, interactive
displays, and trained facilitators to help
visitors enjoy and explore the great num-
ber of specimens.
The hall of fame is housed
in the majestic 1885 Bank
of Montreal building and the
sport’s original Stanley Cup is kept in one
of the bank vaults.
The Ontario Science Centre is an-
other kid magnet and one of the city’s
top attractions. Everywhere children are
encouraged to get involved, have fun, a nd
learn about science. Visitors of all ages
can explore more than 500 interactive
experiments, take in daily science dem-
onstrations, and see movies in the IMAX
Theater.
