WLM | outdoors I did not knowing immediately that there were two cows in between (at the time of the rut season, females are more aggressive than the bull). I was able to spend a good two hours with the bull moose, photographing him. Every little noise was airy and scary... while I was focused so deeply on the moose... Not knowing what to expect next, I sat there and watched them. Suddenly, the quiet of vehicles and people found me alone...but being with animals for 30 years in the wild, nothing scared me... The glow of light made me whisper, and I could hear myself while I took a deep breath and thanked the creator for allowing me to live my dream…to be able to enjoy true wilderness of the back country. Suddenly I realized that two cow moose and the bull bedded down while my mind was walking into past, present and future ...it was like a day dream. Although they were aware of my presence, I was still on a lookout and gave them their space. After a while, the bull moose stood up and looked in one direction intensively, and I said “Wow” out loud...there was another huge bull standing in the distance. I felt like I was in heaven...each other approached very carefully without the fight over females. I looked around me and everywhere I looked it was color on the blaze...a very obvious sign of AUTUMN was among us... and in BLAZING GLORY all was 36 Wyoming Lifestyle Magazine | Fall 2014 illuminated with gold, red and green colors. My eyes soaked in every second of it and my mind engraved colors that will be hard to forget for a long time to come. While all of this was happening, I was photographing and documenting on a video NATURE AT ITS BEST. For a happy ending to this story, the bull moose kissed the cow moose.
