T he connection of our small communities to its members and its past is one thing I love about Wyoming. A true embodiment exists in Carlile, a tiny hamlet near Sundance and Hulett, on a delightful property called Dry Cabin Creek Ranch, the home of Linda and Gene Roberts. Linda Roberts reached out to us this summer regarding their home, made of repurposed homestead materials. It was too good to pass up. Not only do I love the Devils Tower area (US Highway 585 from Four Corners to Sundance is a beloved drive), I also love historically rich homes. We packed the kids for a day of Devils Tower and historical home exploration. Linda Roberts is a dedicated, creative woman who saw a project through from a dream in the 1980s to a reality in 2016. A native of the area, who was raised on her family’s homestead near Upton, Linda knows her area history. When she began dating Gene Roberts, a native of the Carlile community whom she married in 1985, the opportunity to repurpose history became a passion. www.wyolifestyle.com 7
