Because the Foundation works closely with the schools, it was only natural that they added short and simple arts projects for children and families. These are held in the nearby county museum. Darlington says, “One popular activity is an annual sidewalk art show, which includes both kids and adults. We’ve also had student art shows, working with teachers in the schools, after-school programs and day care programs. Of course, that really brings the families out!” she adds with a laugh. “You don’t realize how much that influences these kids until you have one of them hold up something they have made and tell you they didn’t know they could ‘make art.’ Kids participating in an arts activity during the ArtStroll.
