Dan and his band have performed for over 110,000 people from 65 countries in the last eleven years . He always keeps his show new and fresh , as well as incorporating the old favorites . If the audience is primarily from another country , he adjusts the performance so that they can understand it . Dan says he doesn ’ t plan what they are going to do on any given evening - the band never knows what to expect , they just go with it . If he forgets the words to a song , he makes them up . The spontaneity is wonderful , and the audience loves it .
Dan ’ s family has also embraced their Wyoming home , and his Cody show is truly a family affair . Dan ’ s wife , Brenda ( whom he met in Nashville while working at the same radio station ), works at Cody ’ s East Side Elementary School and sells tickets at the show . Their eldest daughter , Sarah , used to be their lighting technician and sold refreshments . Now , after finishing college at the University of Wyoming , she is married and lives in Laramie . Youngest daughter Hannah has performed with Dan since the age of six , playing fiddle and mandolin and singing in the show . She had never missed one of Dan ’ s 1200 + performances until the summer of 2015 , when she traveled to Europe with a group of young musicians from Wyoming . Dan laughingly stated that he could track
Dan ’ s Empty Saddles Band is packed with talent . Wendy Corr , manager at Rocky Mountain MoJoe ( a Cody coffee hot spot ) and owner of Wander Wyoming travel agency , is a very talented entertainer , playing bass guitar as well as singing harmony and lead vocals . Born in Santiago , Chile and raised in San Diego , California , the talented Ed Cook is lead guitarist and a member of the music department at Northwest College in Powell . Many of Dan ’ s Nashville colleagues have accepted his invitation to perform at his theatre , including : Mel Tillis , Kathy Mattea , The Bellamy Brothers , Billy Dean , Suzy Bogguss and Ed Bruce .
Dan enjoys his role as ambassador of the small town he loves to call home . A number of years ago , NBC ’ s Today Show was filming in Cody . They positioned Dan on the balcony of the historic Irma Hotel , across the street from where his theater was at the time . While filming , an impressive group of about 1000 motorcycles came rambling by the hotel . With all the incredible noise and commotion that goes with that many cycles , the host asked Dan what Buffalo Bill Cody , founder of the town , would have thought about the event .
