These comfort items bring a smile to many faces and also give the guild members a chance to use up smaller pieces of
fabric and practice new patterns and quilt skills.
Teaching others the joy of quilting is also part of the guild’s mission. Each year the members offer a summer kid’s
quilt camp where youngsters ages 9-16 can learn to make a nap quilt. For adults, the guild offers a beginners quilting
class through Eastern Wyoming College Community Education.
From modest beginnings in 1994, Goshen County Quilters have grown to an organization of 85 members bringing
together quilters from Platte, Goshen and Niobrara counties of Wyoming, as well as adjacent areas in Nebraska. It is
a group of all ages, skills and interests, but all pursuing the old and new art of quilting, teaching others to quilt, and
supporting the local community. W L M
