WLM | health I n Fremont County, two hospitals have combined efforts to better serve western Wyoming. Riverton Memorial Hospital and Lander Regional Hospital have been on the path to collaboration since 2011. Owned by Life Point Hospitals, Inc. of Brentwood, TN, this joint process created new CEO and CFO positions, which serve over both hospitals, and brought along changes that highlight a patient-friendly atmosphere. The facilities offer services that are rare throughout Wyoming to better serve patients close to home. In Lander, their behavioral health unit, Pine Ridge, is serving adults with an 11-bed capacity. “Lander Regional Hospital has one of the few behavioral health units in Wyoming,” Kati Anderson of LRH reports. LRH also features an acute rehabilitation unit with eight beds and one apartment to create a home-like atmosphere for patients before being discharged. “Even if you have your surgery at another hospital, you can come back to Lander for stateof-the-art rehabilitation,” LRH says. They specialize in the rehab of such conditions as: fractured hip, stroke, knee replacement, arthritis, spinal cord injury, head injury and neurology disorders such as Multiple Sclerosis, neuropathy, Parkinson’s disease and Muscular Dystrophy. Riverton Memorial Hospital’s sleep lab is one of the few in western Wyoming, helping to diagnose and find treatments for patients with these conditions. RMH also contains a comfortable women’s health center, offering mammography, ultrasound and DEXA (bone density) exams in a spa-like environment. Having experience as a patient and working as a sonographer in this type of facility, I can personally attest to the calming presence of a self-contained, low-stress atmosphere for these exams. Those in need of further examination after a mammogram can find comfort in a facility that houses all of their exam needs in one place, and with a staff targeted toward making your experience as easy as possible.
