Our Volunteers 2014 Aidan McCann Volunteer Hall of Fame Award Joint Winners LYN AND PAUL SHEGOG HOBART BRANCH Lyn and Paul Shegog have been with Make-A-Wish for 25 years and are this year’ joint winners of the Aidan McCann s Volunteer Hall of Fame Award. and events, always putting in great care and effort. The pair is known for their encouragement and support of new volunteers, nurturing them and sharing their expertise. Paul and Lyn’s involvement with Make-A-Wish began many years ago. As parents to two children who were granted a wish, Emma and Brett, they experienced the power of a wish first hand. Emma and Brett sadly passed away, but Paul and Lyn have remained incredibly committed to making sure other families experience the power of a wish too. In recognition of Lyn and Paul’s dedication to Make-A-Wish, they were named this year’s winners of the Aidan McCann Volunteer Hall of Fame Award. Named after the inspiring wish recipientturned-volunteer, the national award recognises volunteers who have made a particularly outstanding contribution to Make-A-Wish Australia. ‘The Shegogs,’ as they are fondly known, are longstanding members of the Hobart Branch. Lyn became a volunteer in 1989 and has been with the branch since its inception. Paul formally joined in 2005, but has been by Lyn’s side helping since the beginning. Volunteers like the Shegogs are simply essential in ensuring Make-A-Wish continues to grant the cherished wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
