Elementary School News By Ginger Aleksinski Skelly’s Farm Market WSD’s Elementary students (K-3 grades) went on their annual field trip to Skelly’s Farm Market in Janesville, Wisconsin on a beautiful autumn day in October. After taking a scenic bus ride of fall colors and rows of corn, they arrived to a place with pumpkins galore. The students learned about different types of pumpkins, squash, and gourds. Did you know that pumpkins are always orange on the inside even if they are different colors on the outside? Next, the students got to pick out their own pumpkins and gourds from the pumpkin patch. After playing on the wooden playground with castles and pirate ships, Dianne Armato and Ginger Aleksinski led the students through the corn maze and successfully made it to the end without getting lost! A peaceful hayride through the farm and a snack of apple cider donuts was a nice way to end the day. What a great learning experience and a fun field trip. Fall 2014 - 3
