Holler! Holler!
Apple Holler in Sturtevant, Wisconsin, was the chosen destination
for the Middle School’s First Quarter Reinforcement Trip. Apple
Holler has a very popular restaurant and gift shop. Each fall, the farm
features a children’s hay maze, scary and not so scary hayrides, apple
and pumpkin picking, a challenging corn maze and a scarecrow contest. It is a fun place to visit anytime, but especially in October.
Middle school staff and nearly all the middle school students boarded a bus
for the hour-long ride to Sturtevant. Upon arrival, students saw a couple baby
goats. Signs were posted asking that people NOT feed the goats any corn
because it makes them sick. Instead, they provided old-fashioned candy dispenser machines lled with goat feed, a quarter for a handful. Wyatt Stoller
reported that some WSD students saw some young children from a different
group were throwing corn into the baby goat corral and were reprimanded
when a worker saw them and jumped the fence to prevent the goats from
consuming any more corn. They learned the baby goats may need emergency
medical care if too much corn was eaten.
On the grounds was a very large maze within a corn eld. Our middle school
students thoroughly enjoyed themselves by getting lost in the maze. Faith
Sims said that two female classmates were lost, but a group volunteered to
go back into the maze to nd them. Maddie Anderso
