2013 Dig Pink
To show their support of breast cancer awareness, the varsity volleyball
team along with coaches Heather
Martens and De Drymalski decided
to host the second annual Dig Pink
event. An agreement was made with
Maranatha Baptist Academy. A t-shirt
fundraiser was organized through
the Side-Out Foundation and orders
were collected from staff, students,
parents, fans, and even the other
team. On game day, the gym and
the hallway were decked out in pink
and white balloons and streamers.
Between matches, Athletic Director
Eby, set up an unique fundraiser. He
put down a variety of old uniforms
on random areas of the court and
asked interested people to pay a dollar to try to serve a ball over the net and hit the item they wanted to win.
Brandaun Carter was the sole winner in this activity. He won a WSD basketball jersey! The WSD team was
victorious in winning the match with scores of 25-23, 25-15, and 25-20 and with the amazing $1,102 raised
from the event. All the money donated to the Side-Out Foundation who will contribute the funds to organizations that serve breast cancer patients. A huge thank you goes out to those who came and supported this worthy cause.

Eventful Year!
WSD is honored to have a Ph.D on staff! Dr.
Constance Gartner earned her Ph.D in Educational
Leadership and Policy Analysis at the University
of Wisconsin, Madison in June, 2012. During the
summer of 2013 Dr. Gartner rode on a NASA
aircraft called SOFIA (Stratospheric Observatory for
Infrared Astronomy) as an Airborne Ambassador. She
also married a long-time friend and fellow science

Although she still goes by Connie Gartner, we all
know she is a Ph.D at heart!

Day 2012 at Beth’s parent’s house. Right away they
knew a Las Vegas wedding was their dream. A few
weeks into the engagement they found out they
