Musical Chairs done the Deaf way with flashing lights. Mr. Dean Kemp gets a hug from Roberto! Creativity at work! Be My Valentine? When Michelle Johnson and Holly Gerk noticed that cabin fever had struck the dorm, they decided to host a Valentine festival. Although dressing-up for the event was optional, most of the students decided that Valentine’s Day was the perfect opportunity to show their style. The festival included a variety of games such as Musical Chairs, Find the Heart (a heart matching game) and Wii Just Dance. After the games, students were given the opportunity to put their creativity on display by frosting Valentine’s Day cookies. The festival provided a fun evening for staff and students alike. Girls Night For six weeks, students on the second floor in the dorm worked hard in order to earn a Girls’ Night. Their goal was to earn ten hearts per person. If students earned enough hearts, they were able to have pizza for dinner instead of food provided by the kitchen staff. Everyone had the opportunity to play the games that the floor staff provided. One of the games was Just Dance, a Wii game that provided the opportunity to dance the night away. The girls enjoyed their special night of eating pizza and drinking pop while either chatting with each other or dancing. Gone Swimming When it was time to select a location for the second quarter elementary dorm trip, CCC Bobby Beyer chose the Whitewater Aquatic Center in Whitewater because he wanted something that would be fun and accessible for all students. The Whitewater Aquatic Center has a range of water activities for water lovers including a zero depth pool with geysers, fountains, gizmos and gadgets as well as a slide, basketball hoops, and a lazy river connected with deeper water for the more experienced swimmers. After the students were done in the water, they were allowed to obtain drinks or snacks from the snack bar outside the pool area. Fun was had by all and many arrived back to campus exhausted.
