Martha Muller
Mrs. Martha Muller is the new high school science
teacher and is currently in the process of moving to
Wisconsin from Washington, Illinois. She attended
MacMurray College and Illinois State University,
where she also taught in the university high school.
Mrs. Muller has experience as a free lance interpreter,
educational interpreter and as an educator in the
Interpreter Training Program at Illinois Central
College. Her husband and two of her three daughters
will join her in Wisconsin before the end of the
semester. Mrs. Muller teaches Chemistry, Biology,
Physical Science, Geometry, Health and Consumer
Education. After school, Mrs. Muller enjoys all
outdoor activities and sports. Her daughters play
soccer and she has volleyball coaching experience.
She says she is looking forward to being at WSD full
time because she loves teaching. Asked about her rst
weeks at WSD and she said that everyone has been
helpful, friendly, and very welcoming.
Jackie Baez is not a new face to WSD as she
has been substituting as both a Teacher and an
Educational Assistant since December 2009.
However, she is now a permanent staff member
and works primarily with our Adapted Education
Department as an Educational Assistant. She lives in
Madison, but was born in California and grew up in
Florida attended Miami-Dade Community College
for an associate degree in elementary education,
entered Barry University in Miami Shores as the
rst ever Deaf student, and earned a bachelor’s
degree in exceptional education. She completed her
Master’s Degree in Madison in Special Education
at Edgewood College. Ms. Baez was immediately
inspired by the signing environment at WSD.
“ASL, and sign language in general, is the key for
communication”. A former Deaf Mentor, she has
also substitute taught in both Miami and Madison.
Her time and experience working with special
education students is extensive. She continues to be
both a Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphin fan
and says there is no way she will be converted to a
Green Bay Packer cheese head! We’ll see! Welcome
Jackie Baez.

Bethany Walsh joined the WSD family in the fall
of 2012 in the permanent position of an Education
Assistant. She has worked as a substitute Education
Assistant for the last two school years. Ms. Walsh
is a graduate of Delavan Darien High School and
had many classmates with parents at WSD. Ms.
Walsh took ASL while in high school, via distance
learning, with Mr. Ryan Kelly, WSD Class of 1998,
as her teacher. While a student at the University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee, UWM, she studied Art with
a wide variety of mediums and continued to take
ASL courses. She hopes to continue her studies
and possibly focus on working with students with
behavior disorders.
Ms. Walsh has a two year old son, Conner Jacob,
who is learning ASL as his second language. Ms.
Walsh says that she loves her job and plans to stay
for a very long time. We hope so too! Welcome to
WSD.
