Walker Hall and the New Building By Alex Slappey and Christopher Woodfill In the next few months, the ground will be broken for a new building to replace the aging Walker Hall. This article will describe the history of Walker Hall and the process leading to the new building that will replace Walker Hall. Walker Hall was built in 1911. Walker Hall was named after E. W. Walker, the 11th superintendent of WSD who served from 1902 to 1916. He was an innovative administrator. While he was the superintendent, he added two years to the high school curriculum, established a school library, developed a pure Holstein herd and in 1902, established a DeafBlind department in WSD. During his superintendence, he built several new buildings on the campus. He built Walker Hall, a new barn, a new industrial and manual training building (first Robinson Hall),
