The Middle School only had one new face this fall, Jerome Payne. He is a 7th
grader from Milwaukee. He attended the Milwaukee Sign Language School.
He and his sister both came to WSD this fall. Jerome says he likes the full open
communication with everyone on WSD campus. He enjoys all of his classes and
especially likes class with Mr. Brian Lievens and Mrs. Karen Copeland. Jerome
says he is anxious to be able to participate in sports, especially football.
Dequan Carter is a returning student. He is a junior. He was a freshman at
WSD, then his family moved to Illinois and he went to school in Chicago.
His family moved back to Milwaukee, and Dequan is back to WSD. Dequan
is glad to see his old friends again and enjoys playing defense on the WSD
football team. His favorite class is math and he enjoys his teachers Mrs.
Cheryl Trunk and Mrs. Joan Armfield. Welcome Back Dequan.
Lexi Christ is a new junior. Her hometown is Lake Mills. Lexi attended WSD
summer school for Drivers Education and was able to convince her mother to
send her to WSD this fall. She plays on the WSD volleyball team and hopes
to be a cheerleader for basketball season and on the track and field team this
spring throwing the shotput. She is also considering participating in the Sign
Song Dancers. Her favorite classes are Civics and History. She wishes WSD
offered more sports as well as off campus lunch. She plans to take a class at
DDHS in the spring so as to be able to participate in their FFA program. Lexi
shows cows and won ribbons at the Jefferson County Fair. Her Jersey won
First Champion. Congratulations, and welcome to WSD, Lexi.
