Both middle school and elementary students participated in the Halloween party held in the Firebird Center on October 31st. Students decorated mini-pumpkins as well as clothing themselves in costumes mimicking Mario from Mario Brothers, a detective, a pixie and other scary and not-so-scary apparel. Prizes were given for the best pumpkins and costumes. In addition, everyone received a “glow-inthe-dark” necklace for their efforts. Slimy snacks and putrid punch were served for the frightful occasion and games kept the students in a ghoulish mood. Special thanks to Michelle and Holly for setting up the “hallowed holiday” event. Jr. NAD Hauntings Buzz Lightyear Koss: Cheers on fellow seniors Dylan Laux and Hannah Reees in the pie eating contest. The WSD Jr. NAD, under the direction of Karla Gunn sponsored its annual Halloween Party in the Dorm for all the high school students to enjoy. SLAD Haunted House The G-4 and B-4 dorm students went to Southern Lakes Association of the Deaf (SLAD) clubhouse for SLAD’s 1st Annual Haunted House. The students and staff walked from the WSD campus to SLAD to be spooked by adults at the haunted house. The SLAD members did a very nice job decorating their clubhouse to make it look like a genuine haunted house. The trip to SLAD was earned by the students for their positive behavior during the first quarter. Elijah: “Me? Scared? Nah!” Lyssa says, “I was so scared I couldn’t even look!” Tanner uses a hat to cover up his hair which was standing straight up!
