Both middle school and elementary students participated in the
Halloween party held in the Firebird Center on October 31st. Students
decorated mini-pumpkins as well as clothing themselves in costumes
mimicking Mario from Mario Brothers, a detective, a pixie and
other scary and not-so-scary apparel. Prizes were given for the best
pumpkins and costumes. In addition, everyone received a “glow-inthe-dark” necklace for their efforts. Slimy snacks and putrid punch
were served for the frightful occasion and games kept the students in
a ghoulish mood. Special thanks to Michelle and Holly for setting up
the “hallowed holiday” event.

SLAD Haunted House
The G-4 and B-4 dorm students went to Southern
Lakes Association of the Deaf (SLAD) clubhouse
for SLAD’s 1st Annual Haunted House. The students
and staff walked from the WSD campus to SLAD
to be spooked by adults at the haunted house. The
SLAD members did a very nice job decorating their
clubhouse to make it look like a genuine haunted
house. The trip to SLAD was earned by the students
for their positive behavior during the first quarter.
