HILLSBOROUGH 96 FREEDOM OF WIRRAL

Hillsborough 96 has been awarded freedom of Wirral in tribute to victims and campaigners .
The riverside gardens at Wallasey Town Hall have been dedicated to the 96 men , women and children who died as a result of the Hillsborough tragedy . The gardens will also become a tribute dedicated to the “ courage , dignity and tenacity ” of those who have fought for justice since the 1989 disaster .
Mayor of Wirral Cllr Ann McLachlan , who oversaw the dedication of the gardens as a place for “ remembrance and reflection ”, said : “ It was a proud and poignant occasion when family members and friends of those affected by the Hillsborough stadium disaster gathered at Wallasey Town Hall .”
