W MOTOR L One of the great things about Cars and Coffee Liverpool is the sheer array of car clubs and different automobile owners within the meeting. Phil Graham the Regional Director of the Porsche owners club Great Britain - a great friend of C&CL (he always gets the crowds attention every time he rocks up in his vibrant Mexico Blue Porsche 991 GT3 RS) informed us about a great local Porsche gathering this month - Porsche on the Prom. We took our pastel blue Porsche 911 joined by many fellow members of Cars and Coffee Liverpool on a wonderful and enjoyable drive to Llandudno. What a great name to call their annual meeting ‘Porsche’s on the Prom’. Mind you, if your not a Porsche afficionado you might think it was Porsche owners and their expensive cars heading to the prom wearing a tux and gown! As the saying goes, ‘If your names not down you ain’t coming in!’ The advantages of being in the Porsche Owners Club - tea, coffee, bacon rolls and a light lunch organised by the Menai Suite in the St George’s Hotel, which is perfectly placed opposite the entrance to the promenade. Not scaring the tourists or the locals away, it is a free event for you to roam around the vehicles and meet the owners. More than 500 Porsches descended on Llandudno promenade, directed and positioned in a Le Mans-style parking arrangement. It’s surprising the number of Porsche models on display that day varying from the latest versions of 911-991 to Cayman GT4 and the newest 4x4 Mecan, most importantly the older and more authentic models such as 914, 928, 356 and older 911. You name it, every colour under the sun was there like the ultimate toy shop! They couldn’t have chosen a better day for the weather, with the picturesque views of the Great Orme behind and the infinity views of the sea in front. A great excuse for you and your partner to have a cruise to this beautiful seaside resort, enjoy the interesting banter with fellow Porsche owners, or even stroll to the pier down through memory lane with the fine aromas of sugary doughnuts and ice cream parlours. It’s a must!!! See you same time next month for more banter and automobiles at the next Cars and Coffee Liverpool.
