HIFU - THE NON-SURGICAL APPROACH TO AGEING

Skin laxity is a problem that affects everyone; as we age, our skin
loses collagen and elastin, proteins that help keep it firm and
plump, which causes a loose or sagging look. One session of HIFU is generally enough to produce noticeable
results, but you can have follow up treatments. This is dependent on
the laxity of the skin.
HIFU – (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) is an FDA approved
treatment that can be used as a preventive measure or to treat an
existing problem to lift the face and tighten the neck in the long
term. The ideal candidate is someone who has noticed a relaxed look to
the skin, where it has sagged or drooped slightly – i.e. has mild to
moderate skin laxity.
HIFU can be used to control this laxity by delivering precisely
targeted controlled pulses of ultrasound to areas of concern, which
starts a process called thermal coagulation. This causes existing
collagen fibres to denature, which stimulates new collagen synthesis
and regeneration. This is a non-invasive procedure that does not
negatively affect the outer layer of skin, bypassing the surface to
deliver energy to the deeper layers to promote collagen production
and muscle contraction, hence reducing the wrinkles on the face
and starts to give a toning effect.
Ultrasound treatments can be used to address loose skin on the
décolletage, jawline, eyebrows, chin, neck, nasolabial folds (between
the nose and mouth), and eyelids, as well as being able to affect
uneven skin tone and texture, and even reducing the size of large
pores.
Results are noticeable almost immediately in some cases, and
continue to improve for up to a year after treatment, with no
downtime. The result of treatment will last between 1 and 4 years.
HIFU can be combined with other rejuvenation techniques to
enhance and maintain results.
