Welcome to Wirral Business News

Welcome to the latest edition of Wirral Business News.

As CEO of Wirral Chamber of Commerce it is a pleasure for me to take some time to highlight the success stories which Wirral continues to enjoy.

From the Chamber perspective we have been active in engaging with our business community, supporting new start-up businesses, hosting a Bank of England Economic update and developing stronger links to our growing partnership with the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce.

We are in the news! Congratulations to Tranmere Rovers, who made Wirral proud following a spirited display at Wembley that saw the club return to the football league and of course, to the thousands of supporters who made the stadium come alive on the day.

Hamilton Square also came to life when Birkenhead Town Hall was spectacularly illuminated by a 3D light show projection. Developed by the award-winning Illuminos, the iconic building burst into a colourful light and sound extravaganza with a display inspired by Birkenhead’s people, places and history. All this and the return of the Tall Ships to the Mersey made the start of summer both exciting and rewarding.

In encouraging visitor growth to Wirral we are delighted to welcome Gemma Nichols to the Chamber team as our Head of Visitor Economy. Gemma’s experience and commitment to the peninsula will see her create many events and initiatives which will bring positive outcomes for our business community and our residents.

There is a lot more to say, but I think the most effective way is to read through this digital magazine and you will see what is happening in Wirral with the promise of much more to come in the future.

As always, all the best and thank you for your continued support.

Paula Basnett
