WE-BE: Do you write your own music or play covers?
!
Poison Corn: We only really play three covers; everything else we’ve written ourselves.
Deon, Zakk and Blake all write music so there are always new ideas.
!
Blake: Good and bad personal experiences influence what I write about.
Deon: I wrote a song about my brother, who has schizophrenia.
Zakk: Often my songs are about girls, honestly, ex-girlfriends, or friends who have been
mistreated.
!
WE-BE: How much time do you practice as a band?
!
Poison Corn: Usually we practice two times a week, on average a total of six hours.
!
WE-BE: Who are your music heroes, and why?
!
Anthony: I like a lot of punk rock, and pop punk bands like Rancid, NOFX, and Screeching
Weasel. I always wanted to start a band, and different bands inspired me to start drumming.
Blake: I listen to NOFX, and Fat Mike’s song writing techniques; how he says what he
thinks.
!
Deon: I love Metallica and Led Zeppelin because of their style, and how Jimi Hendrix plays
guitar.
!
Zakk: Blink 182 and The Offspring are two of my favorite bands. I like Isaac Brock’s unique
writing style. Guns N’ Roses inspired me to play guitar.
!
WE-BE: How long have you guys been a band?
!
Poison Corn: Poison Corn has been around for about a year and a half, but we originally had
a different drummer. Anthony joined us about a year ago.
!
WE-BE: Is there a story on how you became a band?
!
Poison Corn: Yes, actually Zakk and Deon met in high school. They were in Music
composition and social studies class together. They started to jam together and their socials
